Lately, there’s been a lot of news and rumors surrounding the re-release of some of the oldies, but goodies that we had only fond memories of until now. Well, the trend hasn’t stopped and now we’re hearing all about possibly revisiting an old friend – the Honda Prelude. Keep reading to get the skinny on the gossip.

Was the Prelude Setting Us Up for More?

If you didn’t already know, the Honda Prelude was a staple sports car that was produced starting in 1979 and took its final production run in 2001. There was a lot to love about the Honda Prelude, but mainly its power and performance are what kept Andover drivers wanting more. With such features and performance to provide, its abrupt discontinuation in 2001 left us wanting more – a dream that may now become a reality.

Though there is not much concrete evidence that secures the beginning of a second round of production for the Prelude, there has been confirmation from a few Honda executives that there is talk about the vehicle throughout the halls.

In fact, that’s exactly what Rob Keough said when approached about the rumors, that there had been “hallway talk” about the Prelude. “Hallway talk” leaves us with much more explanation to be desired. The aforementioned talk could have simply been colleagues talking to one another during their lunch break about their favorite aspects of the Prelude and nothing more than that.

Our Predictions

Since the market for sports cars has shrunk and is now limited to a few well-known names, we don’t think it’s likely that Honda will take the risk of introducing a new sports car into the mix this late in the game, but we can dream, can’t we? Luckily there’s vehicles like the Honda Civic Coupe which maintain that sports car dream and keep us alive. While we’re waiting on solid confirmation or denial of the rumors, stop down to Commonwealth Honda and get behind the wheel of one of the many other great vehicles that Honda’s lineup has to offer.
